How it works

Approximately 1.5 billion people around the world are affected by diseases
that are caused due to walking barefoot.

The average footwear durability in rural areas is 3 months due to difficult terrain
which drives the expenditure to about 800-1000 INR, which is very high.
These damaged pairs account for waste and end up in rivers and landfills.

To help address this problem, we work with a handful of partners to ensure
that for every Yaar shoe purchased, a pair of Yaar Farmers’ shoe is distributed
to someone in need. There are two models we employ:

1) Subsidising the shoes from profits of Yaar Urban range and sell to farmers
at ultra-affordable prices

2) Directly giving shoes to those in need, via cross-sector partnerships and
CSR collaborations.

Our Partners

Above 1000 shoes were sold to farmers across 18 states through our website
and Agri exhibitions.

Under Wells Fargo CSR, shoes were given to 3100 farmers in Telangana with,
CSA and 1600 farmers in Andhra Pradesh with Vikasa and 100 shoes to
labourers in Telangana. Also 500 shoes were sold to ITC for their tobacco
farmers in Guntur region.

To ensure that our beneficiaries are only farmers /farm labourers we have
partnered with well-known non-profit organisations that are working with
farmers and FPOs across Southern India. Centre for Sustainable Agriculture
(CSA) works in Andhra Pradesh, Telangana and Karnataka, they teach and
promote organic farming methods in local farmers. However Vikasa works
with tribal farmers in Araku valley who are cultivating millets and coffee on a
difficult terrain.

Earthen Tunes along with partner organisations meticulously identifies
beneficiaries from villages across the states. The farmers work in multiple
crop production ranging from millets, Coffee, Honey, Mirchi, Cotton, Paddy and many more. The beneficiaries include rural women, farmers from Tribal
communities and other underprivileged communities including backward
caste.

We then carry out online training sessions to the personnel involved with the
distribution about various aspects such as footwear sizing and awareness
creation. Sizing in particular is very different from usual in India because the
feet are short in length and extremely wide and needs a different method as
opposed to length derived shoe size.

Shoe donation drive is then carried out in villages in presence of partner
organisations and local authorities from Panchayat and government for
transparency.

We also take pride in continuously gathering feedback from farmers and
refining our product. As part of this commitment, our team remains in
constant communication with farmers on the ground.

Embraced by farmers of all ages and regions, our products have garnered
widespread admiration. Our numerous repeat customers absolutely loved by
farmers in all stand as a testament to our age groups. Multiple repeat orders
success and our dedication to or their close ones is a nod for fostering
community bonds.
